Individuals & Groups

The Shoeman values and appreciates every moment of time volunteers give. Whether it’s a lot of time or a little every action is part of the process that turns shoes into clean drinking water and a pair of shoes for someone to wear. Consider trying one of these volunteer opportunities for size:

Shoe Wrangler

Spend an hour or two, or commit to a monthly or weekly volunteer time to help sort through the donated shoes at our warehouse. Our shoe donors do a great job keeping pairs tied or rubber-banded together, and we are convinced the shoes have a party in the trailer on they way back to the warehouse, getting separated from their mate.  Help match these lost soles back together again and sort like shoe styles in groups.

Shoe Angels

When the rummage sale is over, the garage sale is done or the discards of the neighbor’s closet cleaning are sitting by the curb, Shoe Angels fly in and ask the organizer if they can rescue the shoes from the trash and give them a new life with the Shoeman.  Shoe Angels collect the excess shoes and deliver them to the warehouse or a nearby shoe drop-off location.

Shoe Slinger

Ride along for a half-day or day assisting the Shoeman or his staff as they collect and load shoes into the trailer after a medium to large shoe drive, bringing the shoes back to the warehouse.

Shoeffer

Drive Miss Daisy’s and other donated shoes in your vehicle by collecting them from a drop-off location on your school, work or home route dropping them off at our  warehouse. Monthly, twice-monthly, and weekly Shoeffering opportunities are available.

Shoeplomat

We are always looking for suave, savvy and debonair Shoelomats to introduce Shoeman Water Projects to Church, Business, Scout, Civic Organization, Government or School leaders who would like to start a shoe drive or become a shoe drop-off location.  We also look to our Shoelopmats for ideas on how to collect more shoes and raise more donations for water. Ideas include reduced the admission to events like concerts, plays, dinners in exchange for a bag of shoes, a portion of the proceeds of an event or ticket sale donated to Shoeman Water Projects, or good old door-to-door, introduction of the Shoeman’s work to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and businesses in the community.

Shoe Collectives

Shoeman Water Projects is working to spread across the nation collecting shoes and turning them into water and affordable footwear for those in need. Shoe Collectives form the volunteer work of two or more volunteers who create a regular Shoeman Water Projects presence with drop-off locations and storage in an area outside of the Shoeman’s current regular shoe pick up routes.  By forming a Shoe Collective, shoes are collected year round in a an area without a Shoeman Water Projects office or partner organization. When a trailer load (5,000+) or more pairs of shoes are collected in an area outside of the Shoeman’s current regular shoe pick up routes in the metro areas of St. Louis and Louisville, the Shoeman will send a trailer to retrieve the shoes and start the process of turning the shoes to water.

How to Volunteer

Shoeman Water Projects has instructions, fliers, yard signs and all kinds of tools to help make the volunteering process fun and easy. If one of these opportunities seems like a fit for you email or call 636-751-8197 Julie for more details and scheduling.
